"It's a new beginning"

How many times have you heard this phrase, participating in an event at the Goetheanum? At the end of the conference, everybody seems satisfied and they conclude always: "It's a new beginning". Well, when is this beginning going to develop? Or will it always remain the same beginning? No one knows.

"Paul Mackay ist lieblos"

They say that a fat and crazy French lady has written with pink spray at the entrance of the Goetheanum that Paul Mackay is unloving ("Paul Mackay ist lieblos"), a statement which is not at all unlikely.

About Armin Steuernagel

The wonderboy of the Goetheanum entrepreneurship goes by the name of Armin Steuernagel. This guy has founded a BIO/organic foods company called Mogli, and has conviced Swiss anthroposophists to invest over 1 Million Euro in it. Needless to say, he lost most of the money, because of his lack of experience with anything, other than marketing. But still, he goes on convincing other people to finance his business. You can get fooled really easily, when you have too much money.

About Faust at the Goetheanum

First of all, as officialy declared, the costs just for this play were no less than... 7 million Swiss Franks ! Other than the setting, which is very modernistic, there are few things which would justify this amount of money. Most of the play is poorly directed, I've seen school plays which were much better. Sometimes the actors move without any meaning, just waiting to say their line. Some of the costumes are very weird, but quite expensive of course. Not to speak about the main female figure, Gretchen, which doesn't really know how to act but has the fine quality of being... the director's daughter . Why the Goetheanum would spend such a great amount of money (from sponsors but nevertheless) on a piece of crap, I can't explain. They might have some understanding with the sponsors, as to contract certain firms for the setting, costumes etc. and pay them big time. Otherwise these astronomical numbers cannot be explained.
